Escherichia coli
Escherichia coli O157:H7 is a leading cause of foodborne illness. Based on a 1999 estimate, 73,000 cases of infection and 61 deaths occur in the United States each year.

Staphylococcus epidermidis - Gram-positive, coccoid prokaryote (dividing). S. epidermidis is usually non-pathogenic, found harmlessly on the human skin and mucous membrane surfaces. It is associated with acne and minor skin lesions. These bacteria colonize plastic resulting in eye infections (endophthalmitis) and bacteraemia around catheters and surgical implants.
